We have a question for you:

How are you feeling right now?

Hands up if the first words that came to mind were ‘tired’, ‘overwhelmed’, ‘busy’ or ‘stressed’.

We’re all so busy these days it’s easy to feel we’re living life in the eye of the storm, dashing from one thing to the next and frantically trying to keep up. Days come and go in a whirlwind, and before we know it another week, month, year has passed us by. With Pause4Life we invite you to step off the hamster wheel, take a deep breath and rediscover a sense of fun and joy in your life.

Now, be honest: Are you feeling like there simply isn’t the time?

We hear that so often, and it makes us sad to think that so many people feel they don’t have time for joy. We know you’re busy. Really, we do. But that’s precisely why you need to take a moment to pause. When we’re busy it’s easy to miss the cues our bodies are giving us. We’re so caught up in the ‘doing’ of life that we don’t notice our bodies begging for some time out to rest, relax and recharge. The good news is that you don’t need to spend a fortune on a silent retreat in Bali to redress the balance (phew…)! You just need to commit to small pockets of time where you take a break from all that relentless ‘doing’ and put yourself first (*gasp*).

There. We said it. Put yourself first. It isn’t selfish, and it isn’t self-indulgent. It will ensure you bring your best game to your one, precious life. It’s essential. Don’t worry if you’re not sure where to start. Pause4Life will help you learn how to live a life that’s balanced and in tune with who you really are. No matter how busy you are, there’s something that can work for you.

Laugh4Life

What if laughter really IS the best medicine?

When we’re children, laughter comes easily. We laugh for no reason, often hundreds of times each day. But as adults our connection with laughter is lost. We may only laugh a couple of times a day (if we’re lucky), and often that’s polite social laughter, not the hearty, belly laughter that has so many wonderful health benefits.

Dr Madan Kataria, an Indian medical doctor, developed Laughter Yoga in the 1990s. It may sound frivolous, but there’s evidence to show the health benefits of Laughter Yoga, including increased immunity, improved sleep, relaxation and mood, reduced pain and a reduction in the stress hormone, cortisol. Laughter yoga has also been shown to improve productivity, motivation, efficiency, effectiveness and motivation.

Laughter Yoga involves deep breathing and exercises that will have you laughing for no reason. There are no jokes or comedy involved, but we defy you not to feel uplifted and joyful when surrounded by a room full of grown adults laughing at nothing in particular!

Come and found out for yourselves at Laugh4Life Birstall, our weekly Laughter Yoga class.

Join us from 6.30 – 7.30pm on Wednesday evenings, at Birstall Methodist Church, Wanlip Lane, Birstall, Leicestershire.

Classes cost £5 per session.

We can also bring the laughter to you! Contact us if you’d like to arrange for Laugh4Life to come to your workplace or to a group.

Wellbeing Days and Rereats

Aaaaand relax….!

Allow us to cocoon you in beautiful surroundings, feed you delicious healthy food and give you a break from the hustle and bustle of your busy life.

Our Wellbeing Days and Retreats will nourish you physically and emotionally.

These popular, themed events offer an opportunity to step out of your everyday life. We invite guest speakers to join us as we explore the small changes that can make a big difference to how you feel. You’ll leave with a sense of lightness, feeling rested and inspired. You’ll also have tools to take away that will support you when you return to the real world.

Mindfulness

Have you ever felt like your brain is going to explode from all the thinking and planning and worrying that you’re doing every moment of every day?

In the shower, you’re replaying that tricky conversation you had with a colleague yesterday. As you brush your teeth you’re planning what’s for dinner. It looks like you’re listening to the kids telling you about their day but really you’re thinking about your shopping list. Washing up you’re wondering how you’re going to get everything done tomorrow. As you try and get to sleep you suddenly remember that thing you forgot to do the day before. And so it goes on. And on. And on…..

Mindfulness can help. In short, it can quieten your mind, giving you some respite from the constant chatter that can be so exhausting.

Mindfulness is everywhere at the moment so you could be forgiven for dismissing it as just another of those airy-fairy trends that will soon be forgotten about. But mindfulness has actually been around for a while and neuroscience has proved that it works, so we’d encourage you to stick with us on this and give it a try.

Our approach to mindfulness will make a tangible, positive difference. We’ll teach you the principles and support you so it becomes a realistic and meaningful part of your routine. We promise you that clarity of mind, relaxation and inner peace can be yours!

Health Coaching

Wellbeing is like a jigsaw (stick with us on this…!). It’s made up of lots of different pieces, some small, some large and some that are very difficult to slot into place. Our health-coaching programme supports you in discovering what your own personal wellbeing jigsaw will look like, starting with the corners to make sure there’s a solid foundation in place, and building from there.

As well as looking at your eating and exercise habits, we’ll also consider other factors in your life that may be affecting your health, such as your relationships, creativity, finances and career.  Having gained an understanding of everything that’s going on for you right now, we’ll identify your own personal health and wellbeing goals. Then we’ll work together to achieve those goals over a period of six months.

Together we’ll create awareness of what might stand in your way, and we’ll develop the skills, tools and motivation needed to overcome those barriers.

With our expert guidance you’ll be empowered to make changes that will transform your overall wellbeing not just for the duration of the six month programme, but for the rest of your life. And if life throws you the odd curveball from time to time? By the end of the programme you’ll have the tools and the resilience you need to get through the difficult times in one piece.

Our six-month programme is built around a proven combination of individual coaching sessions and resources to help keep you on track in between sessions.

We’ll meet twice every month, giving you time to put all your new tools and awareness into action between sessions. If you’re having a great few weeks we can celebrate together, but if you’re finding things difficult you’ll never have long to wait for some extra encouragement and guidance.

Cost: £150 per month
